Microbiology Support Scientist
Full Time, Fixed Term Appointment
12 months, with a possible extension
Salary £19,730 – £22,017 per annum
The Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS) in Oban, Scotland require a Support Scientist to contribute to SAMS research projects. The work will involve the maintenance and cryopreservation of algal cultures and other micro-organisms according to established microbiological protocols, and molecular analysis such as PCR. Initially the post-holder will be participating to the delivery of the GENIALG (EU) and GlobalSeaweed-STAR (UK GCRF) projects.
The successful candidate will have good organization skills, flexible and a good team-worker. Degree or HND level in a relevant biological discipline or with equivalent laboratory experience, and ideally, a working knowledge or experience with microbiology or molecular biology.
