Seaweed Day 2020 celebrated with the launch of the Seaweed Manifesto

This year on Seaweed Day, 4 June 2020, the Seaweed Manifesto was officially launched. The Seaweed Manifesto is the result of a collaborative work of seaweed supporters from private sector, research institutions, UN agencies and civil society. While it was initiated by Lloyd’s Register Foundation, the work has been actively supported by the Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform of the United Nations Global Compact. Many organisations have stated their support, including our GENIALG coordinator, Station Biologique de Roscoff (CNRS). On the day, the potential of the seaweed industry was shared and we heard perspectives from already mature markets, as well as learning more about how seaweed can contribute to feeding the world, climate change mitigation and ecosystem support.
